Determination of optimal size and location of static synchronous compensator for power system bus voltage improvement and loss reduction using whale optimization algorithm

Power systems are usually expected to become heavily loaded as the demand for electrical energy grows and economic consideration limits installation of additional transmission generating capacity. Keeping bus voltage in power system within standard permissible is an important concern improve stability avoid collapse whole system. The common effective way achieve this purpose by adding flexible AC line devices One these static synchronous compensator. In paper approach proposed find optimal location size compensator improving A load flow conducted identify low buses which weak they considered suitable connection. An objective function formulated optimization process contains four parts, deviation, size, active reactive losses Whale algorithm used process. applied on real Kurdistan Region using simulator engineering software simulating finding improvement. results encouraging applying any What distinguishes method that it accomplishes two things, namely reducing deviation zero means all voltages minimizing well.
